Amy Metier

painter & printmaker

Amy Metier lives Boulder, Colorado in the United States. She has a B.F.A. and an M.F.A. in painting and was a professor of art and department chair at the Community College of Denver and Metropolitan State University of Denver for over 20 years. 

Metier has been awarded artist residencies at the American Academy in Rome, Italy; the Alfred and Trafford Klots/MICA Foundation in Brittany, France; the Vermont Studio Center in the U.S.;the La Napoule Foundation in France and the Ballinglen Art Foundation in Ireland. Ballinglen has been a consistent inspiration in her work — 2026 marks her 8th residency there. 

Metier exhibits at the William Havu Gallery in Denver. She will have her 11th solo exhibition there in May of 2026.  Her abstract paintings, prints and drawings are in private and public collections throughout the United States, including the Denver Art Museum and the Kirkland Museum in Denver.
