Curating from the collection: Joining Forces in Conversation, Ballycastle: The Ballinglen Museum of Art

19 February - 11 April 2025

This exhibition was curated by Ballycastle National School 4th, 5th and 6th classes: Crea, Kayla H, Sofiia, Tara, Millie, Adam Mc, Daelin, Eoin, Megan, Aoibhe, Kayla M, Ella, Adam B, Seán, Daniel, Shay, Khalil, Michael, Zoe, Keti, Kimaan, Faizah, Hannah, Ríona, Miguel, Melvin, Ibrahim, Harrison, Cian, Tomás, Jake.

Over two days the children looked through the Permanent Collection, and chose the work together. The work is grouped as if they are in conversations about colour, or animals and the rural; others are an imagined conversation between shopkeepers. Roger Kite’s work Joining Forces prompted impactful contemplations on how two energies and colours can come together. We thank the children for taking this further, spending time imagining and writing these conversations down.
