The Ballinglen Arts Foundation and Museum of Art First Biennial Exhibition: International Open Call Exhibition in the West of Ireland

Works for the group exhibition were selected through an open call to visual artists worldwide working in paint, drawing, print, sculpture, and photography. It was selected by three established artists: Mick O’Dea PPRHA, artist and Ballinglen Arts Foundation board member, Carol Robertson and Rachelle Puryear. 

For 30 years The Ballinglen Arts Foundation has provided residency awards to artists from Ireland and abroad to spend time working in rural west of Ireland which has benefited both the artists and the community.

Prizes were generously given by local and national supporters of our mission and the arts. Prizewinners will be selected by the Jurors and awarded to exhibiting artists recognised for works of achievement. 

Prizes include. 


The Claremorris Gallery Award: A solo exhibition and €2000 @claremorris_gallery. Gallery director, Rosemarie Noone has offered this remarkable award of an exhibition in the prestigious gallery in South Mayo  Opened in 2007  the Claremorris Gallery has shown some of the most important Irish artists of our times, with solo shows by Barrie Cooke, Alice Maher, Brian Bourke and Donald Teskey. The Peter Maxwell Residency Award: A two week residency at the Ballinglen Arts Foundation. Peter Maxwell was the co-founder with Margo Dolan of The Ballinglen arts Foundation and Dolan/Maxwell Inc, a major Philadelphia art gallery. Peter trained as an artist and worked as an editor, art director, promotional and architectural designer. He died in Philadelphia in 2016. This award is being offered in his name. The award includes accommodation in a house/cottage and a studio. Other expenses, like travel, food and materials are not included.

 

The K&M Evans Art Supplies Award - A €500 cash award and a €250 store voucher. The Céide Ladle Award - A €500 cash award. Run by Kellie and Emma and located at the visitor Centre at Céide Fields, Céide Ladle has been preparing exceptional and delicious food since 2019. They cater for the Ballinglen Workshops.

The Irish Art Services Award- A €500 cash award. The Phyllis Caffrey Memorial Award- A €500 cash award. Caffreys Gallery is located in the heart of Ballina, on Garden St. The gallery was founded by Ernie and his late wife Phyllis, whose love for art and design meant that her passion for the arts would live on through the business. The Ice House Award- A €500 cash award. On the banks of the Moy, with stunning views across the river, The Ice House, an award-winning hotel and spa, whisks all stress away. The Maurice Ward Art Handling Award- A €500 cash award. Maurice Ward Art Handling is an internationally accredited fine art logistics company. The Collins Plastic Award - A €100 cash award. Established in 1982 and owned by Liam Collins, Collins Plastics design and fabricate a wide range of plastic sheet products including display stands, brochure, window displays and signs. They have built custom cases for Ballinglen Exhibitions. They offer nationwide services for unique items from concept to the finished project.
