Young people, Adam, Amy, Cara, Charlie, Cora, Jason, John, Josh, Meika, Mia, Michelle, Orlaith, Rachel, Ray, Shauna, Tessa from local youth group Lacken Foróige (with volunteer leaders Jessica and Becky) worked with artist Alice Dixon on a street spectacle project from August to the end of October 2022 at Ballinglen.
Sink Sank and Sunk took to the streets of Ballycastle on Sunday October 30th and celebrated afterwards at The Ballinglen Museum.
The young people came every Tuesday evening during the autumn. With lots of energy and enthusiasm they co-designed with Alice Dixon a character driven series of works from wearable headpieces and masks to glow in the dark objects and animations. It was really great to see all the ideas and characters come to life!!
Many thanks to Alice Dixon, an inspiring, open minded, enthusiastic artist.
Many thanks to Lacken Foróige's Jessica and Becky for all the texts, organising and driving to get everyone here each week. Thanks for volunteering and being there.
Many thanks to NYCI for the funding through The Artist and Youth Work Residency Grant Scheme. The scheme is designed to promote innovative partnerships between youth groups, artists and (where relevant) arts organisations.
