Nicki will demonstrate how to make pastels, paint and inks from pigments and develop environmentally satisfying work that reflects the local environment. Develop your knowledge of found and foraged art materials. Foraging may be just digging into your pile of old pastels sitting in the bottom of the cupboard or collecting objects from nature and using them for painting and drawing. The substance of the landscape becomes the object of painting. Many of the techniques used have been part of indigenous cultural practices from across the world and this workshop will give you a taste of that language. All binders and pigments will be provided.
Nicki Heenan has an MSc (Hons), Auckland, NZ in Bio Chemistry and studied Cross Arts Workshops - Goldsmiths, UCL. She has taught extensively around the world in NZ, US, UK, Ireland and Switzerland and her artistic practice is an amalgam of science and art.
