Mayo County Council Arts Service is delighted to present Guerrilla Girl Frida Kahlo in a virtual discussion with Na Cailleacha, as part of their second residency at Ballinglen in June (June 18 – July 2)
Guerrilla Girls is an anonymous feminist artist collective that exposes sexism, racism and corruption in the art world and beyond. Augusta Savage has also assisted in this wonderful project.
Na Cailleacha are a group of eight female artists who, while on residency in the Ballinglen Arts Foundation, embarked on a series of projects exploring a range of ideas related to being older women artists.
To mark their ongoing support for the work of the Guerrilla Girls they have produced a Cailleach version of the Guerilla Girls landmark poster, ‘The Advantages of being a woman Artist’, from 1988.
The conversation will be chaired by visual artist Aideen Barry.
This event is an initiative of Mayo County Council Arts Service in partnership with the Arts Council of Ireland with support from the Creative Ireland Programme.
