On each of my annual residencies at Ballinglen Arts Foundation, different aspects of its natural surroundings have impacted my abstract work. This painting, from my initial Fellowship in 2013, is an exploration of the intricate colors and textures of the bog plants. I worked with a mixture of oil paint and cold wax medium to create complex layers and evoke organic imagery.
