Josette Urso has an MFA in Painting from the University of South Florida and currently works in New York City where she has taught in the department of Continuing Education at Cooper Union since 1998. She has also taught numerous courses and workshops including those at Chautauqua School of Art, Amalfi Coast Music and Arts Festival in Italy, Mass Art/Art New England and the University of Virginia. Urso has exhibited widely and is represented in New York City by Markel Fine Arts and in Kent, CT by Kenise Barnes Fine Art. She has had fellowship residencies at the Ballinglen Arts Foundation, Yaddo, Ucross, Camargo, Stock20/Taiwan and Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus. She has received grants from the Gottlieb Foundation, Pollock Krasner Foundation, Basil H. Alkazzi, Chenven Foundation and NEA.
